I guess if you put out a CD you really want your own voice on it, but if you needed some free press this is the way to do it, this might have been a little divine intervention for this former gang kid turned gospel gangsta rapper.
Kelowna hip-hop singer's CD gets a little Justin Timberlake by accident
By: THE CANADIAN PRESS
KELOWNA, B.C. - Michael Kulyk doesn't look like Justin Timberlake, doesn't dress like J.T. and especially doesn't sound like him.
Yet if you put the Kelowna hip-hop artist's first CD, Da-Vine Influence, into a CD player, you may hear vocals by Timberlake, the Grammy Award-winning pop singer-songwriter.
Kulyk, who uses the stage name Michael David K. and MDK, ordered 1,000 copies of Da-Vine Influence from Digital Media Alliance, which had them produced by Sony's Ontario plant.
However, the plant was re-pressing a Timberlake CD at the same time, and the wrong music was inserted in a number of Kulyk's products.
A fan who bought two copies of Da-Vine Influence at a CD-release party last month in Kelowna discovered one of them had Timberlake on it.
Sony officials thought there were only three to five mistakes out of 1,000 but agreed to take all the CDs back.
Sony told Digital Media Alliance such a mistake had happened only once before, but that error involved 100,000 copies.
Kulyk says the mistake is a headache but he's looking at the bright side: maybe some Timberlake CDs have his music on them.
