The Downtown Social Club

Last night Mum, Dad, Gi and I went to the "Downtown Social Club". It was an experience! These people have a jazz club set up in their basement, you arrive with you own booze in hand and go in through a door into their basement where they have a whole stage and little club and bar set up. They provide glasses for you and will sell coffees but you sit there and pull your drinks out of a bag and enjoy the evening. The club is in the basement of the lead guy/piano player, then his daughter sang, his grandson played drums, a young guy played bass and sax and his girlfriend sang and played sax, and one more guitar player. It was really good! Halfway through the night they pass around a guest book and you write a comment and give your email address, you can't just show up, you have to be invited and you have to tell them you are coming so they know they have room for you. So you go with someone who has been invited and then you give your email and then you can be invited and bring someone, the place was absolutely packed! It was strange thought, packing up my booze into a bag and going off to a basement party with my parents...lol... memories of my teenage years (sans the parents of course).
