I'm amazed every year

Well, this is the first weekend in March, and anyone who has lived in Saskatchewan for any length of time knows what that means...

Telemiracle!!!

If you are from Saskatchewan you immediately know what the phrases "Ring those phones" and "Where are we going? Higher!!" mean.


There is just something about Telemiracle that makes me keep my television on all day long to watch local talent and my personal favorite every year Bob McGrath from Sesame Street!! He has been coming for over 30 years to do the show.

Amazingly there are quite a few celebrities and groups that have come out over the years including Gloria Loring, Allen Thicke, Irish Rovers, Colin James, Frank Mills, Beverly Mahood (for the last 12 years).

The most incredible part of the telethon is that a province with just over 1 million people can raise so much money each and every year. Since the beginning in 1977 Telemiracle has raised over $78 million dollars. Since 1983 they have raised at least $2 million and since 2001 Telemiracle has raised over $3 million each year with 2007 being the record year raising $5.6 million, for a province this size I think that is pretty incredible.

It is now noon, with 5 hours left they have raised $1.4 million dollars so far.
